Leicester Pop Up DOJ Event

In what may turn out to be a costly day for Leicester Police, at least 40 individuals were arrested under section 13 of the terrorism act, after 16 individuals held signs proclaiming support for Palestine Action. The arrested included at least 5 journalists, who were dearrested over the course of more than an hour. This has led to comments from various bodies including the NUJ regarding the worrying abuse of terrorism legislation to illegally detain accredited journalists, demanding their details as a pre requisite to being de-arrested.
